Late Night Coffee Spots in Brisbane

Nicknamed as the ‘sleepy state’, it’s about time us Queenslander start sipping on some stronger coffee. Although we usually opt to grab our daily caffeine needs in the morning, sometimes we crave a sip of java after 1pm. Whether you’re pushing a deadline, got a late-night shift ahead of you or just in the mood to grab a cheeky coffee a little later than usual, there’s cafes across Brissy that are open past the usual early afternoon hours. We’re gonna spill the beans on where to get your late-night coffee fix!

Bellissimo Coffee | Fortitude Valley

Repping the title of ‘Australia’s Highest Awarded Coffee Roaster’, you’ve probably sipped on some Bellissimo beans before in and around Brisbane. Fans of quality coffee will want to stop by their Fortitude Valley store on Wandoo Street, where you can sip their blends such as ‘Ultimo’, their darkest and strongest roast, until 6.00pm everyday. When we say everyday, we mean every day of the year - including Christmas! Side note: they have two other venues in Coorparoo (open till 4pm) and Bulimba (open till 6pm).

Open 7 days, 6.00am to 6.00pm.

Death Before Decaf | New Farm

Being Brisbane’s only 24 hour coffee shop, Death Before Decaf can satisfy your caffeine fix whenever you’re up. Serving up speciality coffee at all hours, if you like your coffee how you like your music - heavy and hard - make sure you drop in to New Farm sometime (in fact, anytime!) - Word of advice, maybe don’t ask for decaf!

Open all day, everyday.

Foster Black Coffee | Carindale, Chermside, Mt.Gravatt, Indooroopilly + CBD

If you’re sick of bad coffee in shopping centres, we’ve got some good news! Foster Black has a chain in almost every big shopping centre in Brissy, meaning you grab a cup of speciality coffee no matter what side of the river you’re on. If you’re late night shopping and need a kick, you’ll find most of their branches being open till 8.00pm on Thursdays - and every other day they shut around 5.30pm.

Opening hours vary across venues, see here for more info.

Denim Co. | Southbank

In the heart of Southbank, you’ll find Denim Co. where you can sip and relax in style. This place is the perfect study spot for students or if you’re after a late night coffee catch up with friends. They also encourage guests to ‘loosen their buttons’, meaning you can also grab one of their sweet treats without the judgement - say like their infamous Italian Peach Sponge Cake?

Open 7 days, Sunday to Thursday 6.00am to 5.00pm, Friday & Saturday 6.00am to 9.00pm

To Die For Espresso Bar | Chermside

Cheeky, unfiltered and definitely not the faint hearted To Die For Espresso Bar offers you a strong coffee with all the attitude and banter you could wish for (if you wish for those kinda things). Not your standard coffee shop, they have a list of ‘rules’ on the walls - if you like your coffee with alternative milks be prepared to face some (friendly) hostility, they even offer take-away iced coffee in goon bags.

Open 6 days, Tuesday & Wednesdays 3.00am to 6.00pm, Monday, Thursday to Saturday 3.00am to 10.00pm.

Collingwood Black Espresso | Albion

Located in industrial-chic ex-warehouse, if you’re all about the ‘right vibe’, we recommend checking out Collingwood Black Espresso. Considered a little bit of a hidden gem in the Brisbane coffee scene, strong but smooth coffee awaits you in their relaxed environment. It’s also dog friendly, meaning you can bring your furry friend for an afternoon brew.

Open 7 days, Monday to Thursday 6.00am to 5.00pm, Friday 6.00am to late, Saturday & Sunday 6.00am to 3.00pm

Hot Shot Coffee | Zillmere

If you’re a busy person at all times of the day and need a strong ‘grab n go’ coffee - Hot Shot is your spot. With graffiti painted all over the walls, anime references and a lot of cool cars in and out, it’s hard to find another place like this in Brisbane. Their coffee features a lot of fruity undertones, perfect for the black drinkers but also caters to the milky coffees.

Open Monday to Friday, 5.30am to 1.30pm | 5.30pm to 12.00am, Saturday 6.30am to 11.30am | 5.30pm to 12.00am.
