⚡ Support Your Local Business ⚡

Many small businesses and their staff will be hit hard during this period of uncertainty resulted from #COVID19. We are already seeing some restaurants reducing their hours as less people are dining out and our own hospo mates having their shifts cut.

About 1 in 4 workers in Australia is employed on a casual basis (that’s roughly 2.6 million workers) and 80% of them work in small to medium businesses. Even with the government’s stimulus package, the reality is that many vulnerable workers and small businesses will suffer immensely from the lack of cash flow.

So what can we do to help? 🤔💭 Support and shop from your local small business where possible!

Even just from our social media feed, we can see that many restaurants have been taking additional steps like increased sanitisation, using disposable dishes & cutlery, offering free delivery, etc.

You can still support your local cafe & takeaway joints while practicing good hygiene (e.g. cashless transactions) and social distancing. Order takeout or delivery and, where possible, try to order directly to save them the exorbitant commission apps like Uber Eatstakes.

As a page with a small but strong food-oriented and socially-active fanbase, we felt obligated to speak up about the serious and real impact the challenging circumstances around COVID-19 will have on not just small local restaurants and cafes but small businesses in general and do what we can to help spread info on how we can support them.

From all of us at Brissy Eater, take care of yourself, take care of each other and stay safe 🥰
